On Thursday the 8th of November Red Szell came in to talk to us about achieving your dreams even when you’re disabled. He told us the story of when he climbed a rock face called The Old Man of Hoy even though he was blind. The Old Man of Hoy is a sea stack in Scotland surrounded by the sea. He told us to be resilient and never give up our dreams. I really liked hearing about his dangerous climb around ‘The Coffin’ – the hardest part of the climb. It was tricky for him to find holds for his hands, and one time he felt himself slipping and found a tiny hold only just in time. He inspired us to start doing rock climbing – or any other activity we want! – but to never give up.
