The Poetry Recital Competition is a firm favourite for pupils and teachers alike, and this year the standard was simply outstanding. I am always so impressed with the girls’ ability to remember their poems and perform them to perfection. Every finalist performed with expression, enthusiasm and superb characterisation. Performing to a large audience can be daunting, so the girls should be so proud of the confidence that they displayed during their performances.
It was an extremely difficult decision for the judges, but the following girls were selected as our winners:
LOWER SCHOOL WINNER: Daliah (Y1)
UPPER SCHOOL WINNER: Amalia (Y6)
The individual class finalists were as follows:
Rec: Kintyre and Sarah
Year 1: Daliah and Sabreen
Year 2: Emma and Anoushka
Year 3: Amanee and Andrea
Year 4: Elora and Anaya
Year 5: Chloe and Giulia
Year 6: Amalia and Polina
We would also like to say a special thank you to our judges:
Lower School judge: Dr Rachel Osbourne, Director of Partnerships at SHHS.
Upper School judges:
Mrs Jenny Brown, Headmistress at CLSG.
Mr Sam Lenton, Head of English at Wycombe Abbey.
Mrs Sophie Langdale, Director of Admissions at Wycombe Abbey.
