TreeHouse School is a happy and vibrant community where children and young people with autism learn and flourish, with almost 90 pupils aged from infants to sixth formers. On Friday 30th April (6L) and Tuesday 1st May (6C) Year 6 visited TreeHouse School in North London. Year 6 spent the morning in classes with children from TreeHouse, they had drama and music lessons and worked together on songs and performances to help prepare the children for their performance of The Wizard of Oz. They sang The Yellow Brick Road and Somewhere Over The Rainbow, incorporating Makaton sign language.
During break time Year 6 enjoyed playing on all the equipment that Glendower fundraising had helped to purchase. I was very impressed with the compassion and warmth that our girls showed and how much girls from Glendower and pupils from TreeHouse worked together and clearly everyone, including the staff benefitted from the whole experience.
