What Is A Portrait?

We have been creating our own portraits at school, so last week Reception visited the National Portrait Gallery. Our museum guide was a real artist, and she showed us lots of interesting portraits. We learned that portraits can be drawings, photos or sculptures. We noticed that some people hold objects that are very important to them in their portraits, and we sculpted objects that showed something important to us using plasticine. We also had a look at how people posed for their paintings and thought about how we would like to pose. We had a lovely time and learned a lot about art!
